I bought this box intending for my daughter to use it, but she is not going to in the foreseeable future.

I have gone through everything and replaced the 12 volt wiring plug and socket, the 120 volt plug and indicator light.

The pump works as it should in the front and back.

The interior lights work.

It looks like it had a refrigerator at some point, but it does not have one with it.

Includes the hoses and wiring harness to connect to the truck.

The drawers all slide freely and lock in place as they should.

The fiberglass is in good condition with a few minor cosmetic cracks.

All of the locks work as they should and it includes a key.

Lifting bar: I also made a lifting bar for it to properly lift from all three lifting hooks.

I have winterized the pump and hoses with RV antifreeze and flushed the truck heater with fresh vehicle antifreeze.

It is ready to be used or stored for the winter.

The hydraulic door stops on the side doors need replaced. (They will stay up unless the unit is bumped.)

Reason for Sale: Shifting practice needs

This box was installed in a 2001 Dodge 2500 as well as a 2011 Chevrolet 2500. I have owned and cared for this box since 2009. I did purchase it used.

When I removed it last winter, it was in good working condition with a day and night heater, refrigerator (new in 2009) and heated water tank with pump. All slides are in working order. The bottom left slide might need some new screws, but should be an easy fix. The unit has been winterized and covered. There is a crack in the upper door hatch that was present when I purchased the unit (Bowie dealer had it siliconed).

In the newer pickups you will likely need to have a wooden platform (mine was installed by Bowie) because the trucks have deeper beds and the box need some stability and support from the bottom.

Buyer must pick up, but lifting assistance is available.

This unit was in a 2010 Toyota Tundra which it fit in with the addition of a 2 1/2 inch thick base made from plywood and 2 x 4 lumber. This is a fairly common practice according to the porta vet representative who installed it for me when I purchased it from them. I guess the bed depth of the various pickup trucks are all a bit different and this is done so that the overhang of the vet box sits over the bed edge without it bearing any weight on it. Please see dimensions below. You could check with bowie/porta vet and double check your vehicle for fit.

The well where a refrigerator would fit is approximately 14 1/2 wide by 26 1/2 long by 14 1/2 tall. These are maximum dimensions and may not provide adequate clearance for installation and usage of a fridge. I would seriously consider calling portavet and ask their recommendations as I never had a fridge in this unit. The unit is wired for dual voltage units though.

Answers to questions below:

1. It does come with a base/bolts. The base is rails with a quick release spring lever on each side. We mounted the rails on plywood for use in my Xterra, and that's currently how it is.

2. No idea how heavy it actually is. Let's just say that it's not bad to lift it up into a vehicle with 2 people if the drawers are out, but too heavy to do so if you don't remove the drawers.

3. It doesn't come with top rails. There is an about 0.75 inch lip around the top. I used to keep paper and a printer up there and they never came off.

4. There are some dividers. There are pictures below of the locked compartment and there are dividers in the large bottom drawer that you can configure how you'd like, I never used them.

5. The front of the unit is just aluminum.

6. Drawer dimensions (approximate inside dimensions): the upper 2 drawers on both sides including the locked drawer: 4.25" high x 8.75"wide x 27" deep. The 2nd drawer on the unit's left has 3 compartments. The top drawer on the left has compartments for syringes and needles.

Both side bottom drawers are 7.5" high

Both middle drawers are 12" wide.

There is a fridge in the vet box but added an ice pack as it wasn’t keeping things cold enough. There is a water tank but the pump needs work. It is designed for a mid-sized truck which is what it was used on initially. Then it was used in a full-sized truck.

There is one small defect on one of the doors that was sealed with epoxy. Completely waterproof and nearly un-noticeable. There is one plastic light cover that is missing but I will replace if I can find a fixture with a clear cover. All interior lights and switches work.

Both heaters are functional. Day heater has a thermostat and runs off the battery (fan) and radiator/engine coolant pump. Night Heater is 110 with cord included. Plug in is non standard but I believe I have an adapter but am not sure.

All drawers and slides are 100% functional and well maintained.

The water pump from the tank services both hot and cold water. The hot water heat exchanger in the tank works well but remember it is heated from the radiator so if the engine has not been running, there will not be hot water.

The refrigerator is 100% functional off the battery of the truck while working or the 110 AC plug in at night. Runs off the 110 AC as soon as the cord is plugged in.

I do have the key for the door locks but have not used them in many years. Because of Wisconsin weather I will say the locks DO NOT work.

The unit is currently still on the truck so options of transfer are diverse but I am reluctant to engage outside resources unless there is serious considerations to do so.
